This short video from MonaVie helps you understand what antioxidants are. Four ounces of MonaVie feature an antioxidant capacity (ORAC value) equivalent to 13 servings of common fruits and vegetables.

What are antioxidants?

This short video from MonaVie helps you understand what plant sterols are. Many plants include some substances known as plant sterols, phytochemical compounds found in the fatty tissues of plants. Wheat germ, sesame oil, wheat bran, and Brussels sprouts are rich in plant sterols.

When plant sterols are consumed, they compete with cholesterol for absorption in the body. However, it is difficult to consume enough of these foods on a daily basis to derive enough plant sterols to maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Foods containing at least 0.4 g per serving of plant sterol esters, eaten twice a day with meals for a daily total intake of at least 0.8 g, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. Two servings of MonaVie Pulse juice (4 oz.) supply 0.8 g of plant sterols.

TED Talk: Dean Ornish on healing

Dean Ornish is a clinical professor at UCSF and founder of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute. He's a leading expert on fighting illness -- particularly heart disease with dietary and lifestyle changes.

In this TED talk, Dean Ornish talks about simple, low-tech and low-cost ways to take advantage of the body's natural desire to heal itself. Believe me, you will be amazed at some of the numbers he shares.

TED (www.ted.com) is a small non-profit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
